WORKSHOP:
DEFINING THE 8 LIMBS OF YOGA
with Ori Kilner

Are you curious about the history of Yog? Where did it start, why, and how did it change? Let’s take a deep dive into the 8 Limbs of yog and why each limb is so important for the balance of mind, body, and soul. The asana practice of doing yoga poses is only one limb. Pranayam, or breathing exercises are another limb. If the asana and pranayam practices have brought you great connections to your body and breath the other 6 limbs will deepen your practice even more.

We will start with a discussion for which you may want a journal to take notes and then move into practicing each part. We will be doing asanas so please wear loose clothing to be able to move freely. Bring a shawl if you like, though the studio does have blankets.

We are beings of intuition, mental power, intellect, spiritual understanding, as well as we have emotional and physical bodies. The 8 Limbs address each one bringing together a deep sense of connection and well being. When we exercise our intuition we connect to the bigger picture of life. When we exercise our mental power we find discipline a tool that manages what thoughts we focus on ergo affecting our day to day life as well as the ripple effect of the actions we take. When we exercise our intellect we inspire subtle understandings of what is behind the veil of what we think is real and shift into a deeper knowing of what is actually real. When we exercise our spiritual understanding we open the aperture to encompass infinite bliss. When we understand that we have an emotional body and we learn how to delineate it from our thinking mind we find compassion towards ourselves and therefore others. When we exercise our physical body and create strength and flexibility we gift ourselves the platform from where we can choose our thoughts, emotions, actions, and reactions as well as take time to be still enough to be connected to the subtler parts of ourselves.

A genius toolbox for every aspect of living life.
